Megan Jastrab Wins Bronze in the Elimination Race at the UCI Track World Championships

UAE Team L’IMAD claimed another medal at the UCI Track World Championships in Shanghai, China, as Megan Jastrab secured bronze in the Women’s Elimination race.

Following Irish teammate Lara Gillespie’s silver medal in the Scratch race on Wednesday, the American rider took to the podium on Thursday with an impressive performance in the Elimination event.

Jastrab finished third, behind Belgium’s newly crowned world champion Lotte Kopecky and Japan’s Yumi Kajihara, to claim her first elite world championship medal in the Elite category.

After the podium ceremony, Jastrab said: “I’m really proud to take home a bronze medal in the Elimination today. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who continued to believe in me and helped me get back to racing at this level after all the injuries this year. It is my first Elite world medal, so I’m going to enjoy this one for a bit.”

In the same race, we would also like to highlight the ninth-place finish by the British rider Abigail Miller. The women’s team pursuit final also took place today, with the Netherlands, featuring Sofie van Rooijen, finishing fourth and Alena Ivanchenko coming 14th.
