Longo Borghini on the Podium at Veneto Women. 4 riders in the top 10

UAE Team L’IMAD delivered another strong team performance at the Veneto Women, finishing with Elisa Longo Borghini on the podium and four riders in the top 10.

Over the 106.8-kilometre race from Verona to Vicenza, the Emirati team played a leading role throughout the day. Longo Borghini secured third place behind race winner Liane Lippert (Movistar Team) and runner-up Loes Adegeest (Lidl-Trek). Eleonora Gasparrini also put in an excellent performance to finish fourth, with Mavi Garcia sixth and Karlijn Swinkels eighth.

Swinkels had already tried to break away during the early stages of the race. After her move was brought back, UAE Team L’IMAD helped take control of the race, working to set up the decisive phase.

The race came to life on the climb tackled on the first passage across the finish line, around 15 kilometres from the finish. An attack by Italian champion Elisa Longo Borghini sparked the decisive move.

UAE Team L’IMAD had a numerical advantage in the leading group, with Longo Borghini joined by Swinkels, Gasparrini and Garcia. The breakaway group of eight was completed by Movistar Team riders Liane Lippert and Marlen Reusser, Noemi Rüegg (EF Education-Oatly) and Loes Adegeest (Lidl-Trek).

With UAE Team L’IMAD helping drive the pace, the eight breakaway riders gradually extended their advantage to more than one minute over the peloton. The victory was ultimately decided on the final climb, where Longo Borghini secured another important podium finish, capping off a strong day for the entire team.

Today also marked the final race of our Alena Amialiusik’s career, which was celebrated by the whole group and the entire team.
