UAE Team L’IMAD is pleased to announce the appointment of Adam Szabó as Sporting Manager & Senior Sports Director. He has signed a two-year contract through the end of the 2028 season and will contribute to the development of the team’s sporting project over the coming years.
Originally from Bratislava, Slovakia, and based in Girona for the past six years, Szabó has built valuable experience in professional cycling. He began his career working with men’s Continental teams before moving into women’s cycling in 2019.
In 2021, he joined Canyon//SRAM, where he helped establish the team’s development programme and remained involved in its growth over the following five years. The programme played an important role in helping talented riders progress towards the WorldTour level. Szabo subsequently became Head of Sport, overseeing the team’s sporting operations. One of the defining moments of his career came in 2024, when he was part of the team that won the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift with Kasia Niewiadoma, a landmark achievement reflecting the collective work and commitment of the riders and staff.
His decision to join UAE Team L’IMAD was driven by the team’s ambition and potential to reach new heights, strengthen its position among the best teams in women’s cycling. The opportunity to compete for victory in the biggest Classics and Grand Tours was another key motivation.
“I see a strong team with the ambition and potential to reach even greater heights. I was motivated by the opportunity to contribute to that next step: strengthening the team’s position among the best in the peloton and working towards becoming the number one team in the world rankings. The ambition to win the biggest Classics and Grand Tours is something I am excited to be part of,” said Szabó.
In his new role, Szabo aims to place people, communication and collaboration at the heart of the team’s work, building strong relationships between riders and staff and helping everyone understand their responsibilities and the shared goals.
“I am still getting to know the team and its processes, and my first priority is to listen, learn and understand how everyone works together. I hope to bring a human touch and help build strong connections between riders and staff, particularly within the sports director group and in its relationships with the riders. I believe clear communication is essential: everyone should understand our goals, their role in achieving them and the steps we need to take together. I want to help create an environment where people feel supported, respect one another and can do their best work.”
With the appointment of Adam Szabo, UAE Team L’IMAD strengthens its sporting structure with a Sporting Manager & Senior Sports Director who combines international experience, organisational expertise and a strong focus on people. His arrival reflects the team’s determination to continue progressing with renewed energy and ambition in the seasons ahead.
