UAE Development Team’s Emirati rider Safiya Alsayegh helped the United Arab Emirates national team reach the top step of the podium for the third consecutive day at the Arab Championships, currently taking place in Syria.
After winning gold in the Mixed Relay Team Time Trial on Wednesday and the Team Time Trial yesterday, Alsayegh claimed another gold medal today in the individual time trial, covering the 25-kilometre course starting from the Corporate Office in Yaafour and finishing at Al-Baja Village.
There was also a strong performance from her compatriot and fellow UAE Development Team rider Zahra Hussain, who secured the silver medal with an excellent second-place finish. Hussain had also contributed to the UAE’s two gold medals in the previous two days. The bronze medal went to a rider from Lebanon.
The Arab Championships will conclude tomorrow with the final road race.
