Maeva Squiban claimed fourth place today at the Tout commence en Finistère Ladies Classic, held in France between Pouldreuzic and Plouhinec over a 94.1-kilometre course.
The race was shaped by a five-rider breakaway, with Maeva Squiban representing UAE Team L’IMAD in the move. Her presence at the front allowed the team to save valuable energy and avoid taking responsibility for the chase behind.
The peloton organised itself too late, however, and the breakaway managed to stay clear all the way to the finish. In the closing stages, another rider from FDJ United – SUEZ bridged across to the leaders, bringing the front group to six riders who went on to contest the victory in a sprint.
Dutch rider Sarah van Dam (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) produced the strongest final kick to take the win ahead of American Lily Williams (Human Powered Health), with Eva van Agt (FDJ United – SUEZ) completing the podium.
Squiban crossed the line in fourth place, followed by Kiara Lylyk (Mayenne Monbana My Pie) in fifth and Amber Kraak (FDJ United – SUEZ) in sixth.
At the end of the day, Maeva Squiban was named the best Breton athlete in the race.
UAE Team L’IMAD will be back in action tomorrow at the Pointe du Raz Ladies Classic.
